Saltburn Bowls Club - 2019 dates
The bowling green was opened again for members on Tuesday 9th April 2019, the weather was much improved on last year, thanks for those providing soup and members supporting the event as well those who helped with this year spring clean.
The green is showing the results of the hard work put in by Tony and Derek over the winter period to ensure once again we have the best green available for the coming season.
There are changes in the visitors changing areas, racking has been installed in the Mens Away room by Dave and Derek, this is now for Saltburn members only to keep trolleys and bags etc that will not fit entirely into allocated lockers within the clubhouse, the Ladies changing room will become for all visitors, there are no longer separate rooms for men and women.

About the club
Saltburn Bowls club is part of the larger Saltburn cricket, tennis and bowls club and shares facilities with the cricket club bar and clubhouse. The bowls club itself was founded in 1906 and offers a fabulous green with 6 rinks in a quiet location set in an enclosed corner of the cricket field with pedestrian access from either the main road or via the cricket field where there is ample parking within the Saltburn Leisure centre car park.
In addition to the green which is open normally from April until September, weather permitting, there is also a gravelled petanque (French boules) area which is in operation throughout the year. The bowls club has its own pavillion located next to the green which has toilet and changing facilities as well as a modern kitchen area.
Over the years since being founded we have served generations of bowlers some of whom we are proud to say have gone on to play at County and National level.
We offer the opportunity for new bowlers to come along and "have a go" at bowling outdoors with tuition from our coaching staff most Tuesdays during the season using bowls loaned by ourselves, you need only provide suitable flat soled footwear. More information can be obtained either from the Saltburn District U3A website (see useful links page for details) or by contacting Bryan Robinson on 01642 511259.
If you have not played before then why not give it a go, bowls is fun, sociable and good gentle exercise. Should you decide to join there will be an annual fee which allows you to play as often as you wish during the time the greens are open. Any competition will take precedence over casual bowling so please check that there is not a match scheduled when you want to play.
During the bowls outdoor season our men and ladies compete in the local leagues - see fixtures for more details. During the winter many of our members pop into the nearby leisure centre where there are 4 indoor rinks used for competition and practice, the indoor facility is not part of the bowls club but is owned and operated by Everyone Active and separate fees apply. We do not offer any coaching for indoor bowling.
When we are not bowling during the winter we hold regular social events at the club to keep in touch with members and have an evening of light entertainment.
The club is accessed either from Marske Road or Saltburn Leisure Centre car park - see picture below.
Pedestrian access is next to the Saltburn Cricket Field bus stop on Marske Road (opposite Budget Auto Centre) TS12 1QG. Arriva buses X3 and X4 both stop here.
Car parking is available in the Saltburn Leisure Centre on Marske Mill Lane TS12 1HJ, then on foot through the cricket field to the bowls club.
