Saltburn Bowls Club enter teams into 4 local leagues, two of the leagues are mixed. One is only for the ladies and one for the men. Only full members are allowed to compete in these matches.
Following guidelines from HM Government it is not possible to play a full season in 2021, there are no plans to hold a Ladies league, both Cleveland leagues will play half a season on a home or away basis, NYBL are planning a partial season, details to follow when available.
The four leagues are as follows
North Yorkshire Bowls League (EBA) is men only and is played by 4 rinks on each side, a total of 16 players from each team, and the games are scheduled for Monday and Thursday evenings starting about 6:30 pm with earlier starts for the August fixtures, the scores are compiled and league positions are updated, this year there have been some changes, teams will now play home and away and the end of season "Team Tournament" (Top Ten) will no longer be part of the competition. In order to save some time there will no longer be practice ends but the first two ends will be limited to a maximum of one point scored.
Teesside Ladies League is only for the ladies and games are scheduled for Thursday afternoons starting at 2:00 pm, this is run as a league format. This year due to dwindling numbers at some clubs the format has been reduced to 3 triples, a total of 9 players on each team.
Cleveland League is a mixed competition open to ladies and gentlemen the games are scheduled for Tuesday and Friday evenings starting at 6:30 pm with a few games at the close of season played slightly earlier as the daylight starts to fade a little. The format is 4 sets of 3 players each playing triples, a total of 12 players on each team.
Cleveland Triples League is also a mixed competition open to ladies and gentlemen the games are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday afternoons starting at 2:00 pm, this is contested by two sets of 3 players, a total of 6 players on each team.
If you wish to play in any of the competitions there will be nomination forms on the club notice boards, final team selection will be made by the team captains from the players available.
Transport to away fixtures is normally by using a car pool arrangement and drivers who can provide transport will let the team captain know in advance.
